Recently, a training Course on rational drug use for medical specialists in South and Southeast Asia, sponsored by Yunnan Department of Commerce, was hosted by The School of Pharmacy of Kunming Medical University and the Clinical Pharmacy Committee of Yunnan Pharmacology Association. 36 medical specialists from 6 countries including the Ministry of Health, central and local hospitals in Nepal, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia participated in the training. This training is one of a series of activities for the founding ceremony of the South and Southeast Asia Medical Education and Service Alliance.
LI Ming, Vice Chairman of Adminiostration Committee of the univerity, XIE Baosheng, Vice President, Li Boyan, Deputy Researcher of the Foreign Economic Cooperation Department of Yunnan Provincial Department of Commerce, heads of the Division of International Exchange and Cooperation of the University, the School of Pharmacy, the Clinical Pharmacy Committee of Yunnan Pharmacology Association, and teachers, students representatives attended the class opening and closing ceremony.
Li Ming in the opening ceremony speech pointed out that KMU successfully held the first training course on rational drug use for health personnel from five provinces of Laos, which had a active response. In order to better serve Belt and Road Initiative , KMU once again provided training course in the occasion of Alliance’s founding with an aim to build cross-boarder platform for medical specialists’ exchanges and improve their medical skills. He hoped that participants took this training as an oppotunity to conduct all-round and multi-angle discussions on cutting-edge and hot issues in this field, and work together to promote the development of clinical rational drug use in this region for the benefit of people in many countries.
In the opening ceremony of the class, LI Boyan emphasized that in recent years, Yunnan province has taken the initiative to serve and integrate into the national development strategy, and actively participated in the construction of Belt and Road based on its geographical advantages and characteristic resources. Kunming Medical University actively undertook the foreign aid task of Belt and Road Initiative, which was fully recognized by the Provincial Department of Commerce. It is believed that the implementation of this training class and other foreign aid projects would greatly conducive to the regional development.
Eight clinical pharmaceutical professionals, including Professor Yin Xiaoxing, former President of Xuzhou Medical University and member of the National Pharmaceutical Education Commission, Director Yan Miao of the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University, and Kong Shujia of the Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University, were invited to give practical trainings. In addition, all the trainees visited the Clinical Pharmacy Center of the First Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University, the Pharmacy Department of the second Affiliated Hospital, the production workshop of Yunnan Bai Pharmaceutical Factory and the logistics Department of Yunnan Pharmaceutical Co., LTD., bringing vivid and accessible practical teaching to all the trainees. During the course, trainees listened carefully and recorded carefully. After class, they were eager to ask questions and the atmosphere was lively.
