Dear SSAMESA Members,

In 2019, Kunming Medical University (KMU)and Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine jointly initiated the establishment of the South and Southeast Asian Medical Education and Healthcare Alliance (SSAMESA). With strong support from member institutions, after nearly four years of construction and development, the number of member countries has increased from 12 to 13, and the number of member units has increased from 39 to 52. The alliance members have collaborated successfully in various areas such as talent cultivation, academic exchanges, epidemic prevention cooperation, and medical technology training. The alliance has become an important platform for communication and cooperation in medical education and healthcare between China and South Asian and Southeast Asian countries. It plays an increasingly significant role in promoting the construction of a regional health community.

To further promote the development of the alliance and enrich the forms of cooperation, and to facilitate more targeted exchanges and collaboration in specific disciplines among the member institutions, the alliance plans to establish a Radiology Sub-Alliance, led by the Medical Imaging Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of KMU. The sub-alliance aims to actively promote cooperation among alliance members in areas such as medical imaging talent cultivation, resource sharing, teleconsultation, academic exchanges, and technical training. Its goal is to enhance the regional level of medical imaging technology and services. The establishment and academic symposium of theRadiology Sub-Alliance of the SSAMESA will be held in Kunming, Yunnan on October 19, 2023. A detailed schedule will be sent to all member institutions once it is finalized. If your institution agrees to join theRadiology Sub-Alliance, please recommend one or more medical imagingor radiologydepartments from your affiliated hospitals to join as members of the sub-alliance, andnominate head of thedepartments as representative of the sub-alliancememberto attend the inaugural conference onOctober 19, 2023 in Kunming.
